This is my entry for the anti-cliche contest held by `kuschelirmel

How does it fit? Well, I used some commonly cliched elements (the giant boat which was a DD from last year, and a female subject from a well known stock provider) and incorporated them into a scene that I have yet to see anything like.

One of my favorite things is to bring the most wild, dream like scenarios, stories, or themes to life in ways that haven't been done before.

This piece put itself together while I was making it. The most basic concept behind it (that I'm willing to reveal) is the idea of the woman shunning the traditional way of finding her return to the shore. This piece, like many of mine, has personal meaning for me and stems from feelings and thoughts that define my state of mind for the stage I am in at this time in my life. The anti-cliche contest was the perfect motivator to bring to life my current state of mind... there will always be more than one way to reach your destination and some are definitely more interesting and effective than others.

Stock used-

  • tiger- ~AngellesFleshStock

  • woman- *mjranum-stock (the woman actually consists of two separate stock photos of the same model because I didn't like the pose of her right arm)

  • boat- ~gothika-stock

  • The background is an absolute mash of about 8 different stock photos from sxc.hu. I am especially proud of the creation of that.


Tools used- Photoshop CS2, Wacom Intuos 3

I can honestly see I've never seen anything like this. :) Makes me want my own tiger to help me to shore if I fall off a boat. :lol:

Actually, it reminds me of "the Life of Pi" if you know the story (except the boy and the tiger never got on like the two in your pic :) )
